Viewers of ITV’s The 1% Club have grown accustomed to its unique setup.

The programme starts with 100 contenders who are gradually weeded out as they strive to be the last one standing, capable of answering a question only one per cent of the British population would get right.

In some episodes, contestants and audience alike face picture questions which often prove to be quite a challenge.

A particular episode recently threw several players for a loop with three images forming part of a tricky question, but do you reckon you could suss it out within half a minute?

The question that stumped folk was this: “What word can go after each of these images to make three new things?”

The first image presented a block of butter, the second a red dragon and the third showed a selection of fruit.

Lee Mack, the show’s host and popular comedian, reported that six participants got this puzzle wrong.

He then confirmed ‘FLY’ as the correct answer, pointing to displayed images of a butterfly, dragonfly, and fruitfly.

In the finale, just one contender managed to reach the elusive 1% question, eyeing up the chance to pocket a cool £100,000.

Contestant Steve was told he could be the inaugural winner of this hefty sum if he made a savvy gamble, reports the Express.

His final stumper read, “What two letters replace the question marks?” followed by the perplexing equation, “TE times T equals MESSAGE. TO times IN equals POISON. E times ?? equals LEAVE.”

After just 30 seconds, contestant Steve made his guess and confidently submitted “NE” as his answer.

However, fate had other plans, as host Lee revealed the correct response was actually “IT”.

He clarified: “If you replace ‘times’ with ‘X’, you form words with the same meaning as the words on the right.”

For example Text equals Message, Toxin equals Poison and Exit equals Leave.

And while Steve was stumped, some took to X, formerly Twitter, to declare it the easiest 1% question they’d seen so far.

Attracting a dedicated audience of four to five million, The 1% Club has risen to popularity in the UK. This game show is known for its distinctive questions that rely on “logic and common sense.”
