“I was happily married with a young family and a busy career and when I was diagnosed with breast cancer after a finding a tiny lump, I had only thought to check my breasts because I was filming scenes for my Coronation Street character, Sally Metcalfe. I found out she had breast cancer too. I was a patron of the charity, Prevent Breast Cancer, when I was diagnosed and I never really thought that it could happen to me. But it did, and it can happen to anyone.”
She continued: “I was lucky, my cancer was found early which gave me the best chance for survival and I’m here, 15 years later because it was diagnosed and treated quickly. That’s why I want to make sure that every woman goes for their breast screening appointment.”
