Thanks for following our live coverage of the conflict in the Middle East. We’re going to close our blog now, here’s what happened in the last few hours.

Overnight, the Israeli military said Iran fired missiles and ordered residents to remain close to bomb shelters as air raid sirens sounded across the country.

The escalation came after Israeli forces launched ground operations in southern Lebanon.

Israel and the US have warned there would be severe consequences in the event of an attack on Israel from Iran, which backs the militant group Hezbollah in Lebanon as well as Hamas in Gaza.

Israel said it has launched strikes on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon.

Domestically, NSW police are going to the Supreme Court to block two pro-Palestine protests planned for Sydney to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the war in Gaza this weekend.

The Australian government says it has helped “a number” of citizens leave Lebanon on Monday and has secured further seats on flights due to leave tomorrow. The Australian embassy remains open, and the government has once again urged citizens to leave the country.
