He was forced to miss the start of the UFL season in Houston, Texas after his plane was dramatically sent back.

Johnson, 52, had just left Hawaii and headed for Texas when his pilot told him there was an issue.

The captain left the cockpit to explain to The Rock that they had to return to the island.

Speaking to his fans on Instagram, Johnson said, “About 35/40 minutes into the flight the pilot came to me and gets down on one knee.

“He faces me, it’s just me on the plane and the crew.

“He says, ‘Mr Johnson, I’m sorry to inform you, but we cannot continue to fly over the ocean.

“‘We have a problem, we have to turn the plane around and we have to land back at Hawaii.

“‘You have my word, I will land you back safely on the island.'”

Johnson paid tribute to the pilot for his handling of the situation.

He explained that there was a hydraulics issue and overheating.

And they couldn’t take a chance on flying over the ocean towards the U.S. mainland.

“I so appreciate his demeanor,” The Rock said.

“I so appreciate the crew and them getting us to land back safely.

“I so appreciate god and the universe – I took this as a sign.

“We have all experienced turbulence on air planes.

“Some of us have experienced some really f***ing crazy turbulence where you’re like ‘holy s**t.'”

“Drinks are flying and luggage is flying and you can’t help but think, it’s human nature to be like ‘man, is this it? is this how I check out?'”

Johnson apologized to his fans and UFL players for not being able to attend as scheduled.

The actor said the mid-air scare put things in perspective for him.

“When you’re back there alone with just your drink and you’re thinking about it and you’ve got everything crossed that you can make it back safely.

“It makes you realize the s**t that’s really important in life.

“And then you realize the s**t that really doesn’t matter that you’ve been thinking about.

“I had one of those moments last night.”
