Investigation underway into deadly shooting at apartment complex in MacGregor neighborhood, Houston police say

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Authorities are investigating a shooting that left a man dead in Houston’s MacGregor neighborhood on Thursday.

The Houston Police Department said children were inside the apartment when shots were fired at the complex off North MacGregor, between Scott and Tierwester.

Police said it began when three men were arguing in the complex parking lot before it moved into the apartment unit and turned deadly.

In that apartment, police said there was another man, a woman, a 10-year-old, and a 2-year-old.

That’s when one of the men, involved in the original argument, allegedly opened fire, hitting and killing a man he was arguing with, according to HPD.

HPD Lt. Larry Crowson said two other men from the argument drove off in a silver sedan.

“As you can see, there are a lot of children in this apartment complex. It’s possible for a bullet to go through the wall. We’re fortunate that we only had one fatality. I know people get into arguments, but it’s ridiculous for people to get into shootouts at these apartments,” Crowson said.

Police are now looking for witnesses and video that may give them an idea about why this happened and who was involved.
