Bijapur: In Bijapur, Chhattisgarh, soldiers have killed 31 Naxalites at the Maharashtra border. Two soldiers have sacrificed their lives and two others have been injured. An MI-17 helicopter has been dispatched from Jagdalpur to evacuate the injured soldiers. Security forces in Chhattisgarh are continuously conducting major operations against Naxalites.
Before the panchayat elections in the state, a major operation took place in Bijapur district on Sunday, 09 February 2025. A clash occurred between the police and Naxalites in the national park area. According to sources, in this encounter, soldiers have killed 15 major leaders of the Naxalite cadre. Currently, the area is being searched.
According to intelligence agency sources, the reason for the continuous encounter between the police and the Naxalites in Chhattisgarh is clear. The Center and the state government are determined to eliminate Naxalites. In such a situation, new camps of security forces are being set up. This is the reason why Bijapur and surrounding areas have undergone the biggest operations this year. The Red Terror is now scared with the opening of the camps of the security forces somewhere.
At the same time, Home Minister Amit Shah’s vision is to make India Naxal-free by March 2026. The elimination of 31 Naxalites in Bijapur is a big success for the security personnel present in Chhattisgarh. Besides, the South Bastar region, which is close to Sukma, is already witnessing an intensive operation against Naxalites.
As part of this strategy, a group of 50 cadres of Naxalites gathered near the national park in Bijapur. Chhattisgarh Police and Durg Police personnel got a whiff of it. Immediately, this contingent of Naxalites that gathered near the West Bastar Area Committee was surrounded. This big operation was carried out in Bijapur for about 12 hours. The Naxalites also had a large amount of ammunition. One by one, important cadres of Naxalites were killed and within 12 hours, 31 Naxalites were killed, but in the process, two soldiers of Chhattisgarh Police were also martyred.
According to security intelligence agency sources, these slain Naxalites include those with a reward of Rs 5 lakh and Rs 8 lakh. A total of 86 Naxalites have been killed in Chhattisgarh this year which is a big success for the security forces in the operation against Naxalites.
The anti-Naxal campaign has gained significant momentum after this major operation in Bijapur, with the goal of completely eradicating Naxalism from India by March 2026.
Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai posted on social media platform X, stating, ‘There was an encounter between security forces and Naxalites in the national park area of Bijapur district. We have received the sad news of 2 soldiers being martyred and 2 soldiers being injured. The sacrifice of the soldiers will not be in vain. Under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, our state will be free from Naxalism by March 2026. In this direction, the security forces are continuously achieving success and moving rapidly towards their goal. The end of Naxalism, which is like a cancer in the country and the state, is certain. I pray to God for the peace of the souls of the martyred soldiers and for strength to their families, and for the speedy recovery of the injured soldiers.’
