A British man shared his experiences of being in Madrid, Spain, pointing out there’s an amusing similarity locals have when it comes to the weather. Many could relate to his observations
The Spanish typically have gorgeous weather in springtime – but for some locals, it’s felt like a very long winter.
Sunshine seems to have been in short supply – especially in March. And to make matters worse, the Canary Islands are battling storms and heavy rainfall at the moment.
Thankfully, there are glimmers of joy. The mainland is starting to experience some sunny days in April, which has led to a British man in Madrid making a funny observation.
After so many gloomy weeks, Spaniards seem to making the most of the pleasant weather. So a British man called Tom wanted to highlight just how similar locals can be to people living in the UK.
Tom posted a lighthearted video to TikTok, where it’s garnered tens of thousands of reactions. Reflecting on life back in the UK, the Brit explained: “You see people simply enjoying the sun at the first little glimpse we get.”
He then shared something he’s learned about the weather and how Spaniards reacted to it. He added: “It turns out you’re even worse than English people because after just three weeks, you’re exactly the same!”
The Englishman continued: “Today, at the first sign of sun, you’re outside having a good time; it’s not even 15 degrees, and you’re sunbathing on your balcony. This shows we’re not all that dissimilar, are we?”
Judging by the comments section, plenty of people agree with him. One viewer said: “I have never had so many weather conversations in Spain as in the last four weeks.”
Another said: “That’s true!” And a third added: “It’s so unusual to have the weather we had for the most of March. We were desperate for the sun.”
However, one responder pointed out there is a key difference between Brits and Spaniards.
They said: “They would never lie in the sun when they are sunburnt. Or at midday!” And we must admit, they’re probably right about that one!
