“With the government’s unwavering commitment to advancing India’s position as a global education superpower , its dual focus on attracting international students and strengthening research through global collaboration remains essential. The NEP 2020’s student-focused reforms, aiming to boost the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) to 50% by 2035 — a 40% increase — highlight this commitment. Additionally, initiatives like the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City), which enables foreign universities to establish branch campuses with streamlined regulations, illustrate India’s readiness for global partnerships. Complementing these efforts, the comprehensive campus set to be established by the University of Southampton in Gurugram underscores India’s drive to expand its educational footprint and reinforce its global academic ties,” said Dr Ashwin Fernandes, QS Executive Director for Africa, Middle East & South Asia.
