Ice cream lovers left bitterly divided over new Skyline Chili-flavored dessert

Chili may be best served hot, but soon it could be best served… cold?

Graeter’s Ice Cream is collaborating with Cincinnati-based chain Skyline Chili to team up for a special edition ice cream, it was confirmed this week.

A listing and photo of the unique ice cream was shared last Tuesday on grocery chain Kroeger’s website, but was promptly removed by Wednesday afternoon, according to The Cincinnati Enquirer.

The Enquirer was able to get a screenshot of the pint, which showed that it was an  ice cream that had hints of chili spices, crunchy oyster crackers and shreds of cheese in it – all the staples involved in a Skyline Chili experience.

The pint was complete with a picture of Skyline’s signature dish on the front.

Sarah Sicking, vice president of marketing and brand engagement at Skyline Chilis, told the outlet that the brand was ‘excited to be working on a fun collaboration with (its) spice blend and Graeter’s ice cream.’

It’s unclear exactly when the special-edition ice cream will be released, but Sicking told The Enquirer that it will hopefully hit shelves next year.

However, fans are having some mixed opinions when it comes to the new flavor.

In response to a post by The Cincinnati Enquirer on X, formerly known as Twitter, announcing the news, some were simply left horrified.

‘Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should,’ one person wrote.

Another agreed, ‘I’d do anything for love but I won’t do that.’

‘I just threw up in my mouth a little,’ someone else typed.

Others, however, seemed daring enough to try it.

‘I think chili powder could make a good ice cream flavor. Could be permanent. Would be better if they lost the cheese and crackers,’ a user admitted.

Another commenter seconded, ‘Strangely, I’m in.’

Skyline Chili is quite the popular chain in the Midwest, and it serves it up in a unique way.

The chain plates their chili with heaps of shredded cheddar cheese, which is freshly shredded throughout the day, either on a plate or on top of a hot dog.

You can even get their famous chili in fresh, hot spaghetti.

The restaurant is a favorite among may celebrities, too, including former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce.

But unfortunately, his love for Skyline Chili has backfired on him before.

Last year, the NFL star revealed on an episode of his New Heights podcast alongside brother Travis Kelce that he lost his 2018 Super Bowl ring in a pool of Skyline Chili.

He won the ring when his team battled The New England Patriots.

Kelce said he lost it while he and his brother were holding The Great Lombaby Games at the University of Cincinnati, where one of the activities was a game that involves diving into pools of the chili, according to CBS Sports.

‘I legitimately lost my Super Bowl ring in this event,’ Kelce said during the episode, per the outlet.

‘They could not find it… We have still yet to find it. All of this stuff has now been thrown away, so I think we can safely assume that my Super Bowl ring is now in a landfill someplace in the Cincinnati tri-state area. I didn’t think that would happen,’ he continued.

In response, Travis called his brother a ‘f****ng imbecile.’

DailyMail.com reached out to both Skyline Chili and Graeter’s for comment.
