‘I wasn’t happy on a daily basis’: Lionel Messi opens up on time in Paris Saint Germain | Football News

Lionel Messi in a recent interview opened up about his time in Paris Saint Germain after leaving Barcelona, saying that he did not particularly enjoy his time at the French capital. Messi had joined PSG in 2021, scoring 32 goals and assisting 35 times in 76 matches for the French club. He would then go on to join his current club Inter Miami in 2023.

“Coming to play for Inter Miami was an opportunity and the way things developed during my last years in Paris, although it was a decision that I had to make on the go, because I had to leave from Barcelona, I went through two years which I didn’t enjoy,” Messi said in an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe.

“I wasn’t happy on a daily basis, with the training, the matches. I had a hard time adapting to all that. I felt called to come to Inter [Miami] because it’s a club that’s growing, very new, with few years as a club,” he added.

This is not the first time that Messi had mentioned that he found life difficult in Paris. After joining Inter Miami, he said the same in his first press conference.

“I didn’t want to leave [Barcelona] for PSG and that was an overnight decision. I wanted to stay in Barcelona, but I had to get used to a different place, a different place from the one I had lived in terms of the city,” Messi told reporters. It was difficult in Paris, but it is quite the opposite what is going on with me here and now,” he had said.

Messi had come to PSG in 2021, leaving Barcelona after 17 successful seasons in which he helped the Catalan club win 35 titles, including four Champions Leagues, 10 Spanish leagues and seven Copa del Reys.
