The cult beauty brand has added four new lipsticks to its Pillow Talk range, along with two new blush and finishing powder palettes
Nothing gets me more excited than a new Charlotte Tilbury launch. Famed for her ultra-flattering lipsticks, skin prep heroes and Hollywood glam reputation, there are few products from the celebrity MUA that I don’t wholeheartedly adore. And her newest releases are no exception.
The new Pillow Talk Beauty Soulmates Collection was released at the end of March, with a campaign fronted by Sex and the City star, Kim Catrell, who Charlotte Tilbury described as ‘the ultimate Pillow Talk beauty muse. The collection features four new Pillow Talk lipsticks as well as a new blush and powder palette – just in time for spring.
First and foremost, the packaging is incredible. The lipsticks come in their signature rose gold ribbed cases that have that glamorous art deco feel, adored with pink jewel hearts on the lid. Meanwhile, the palettes are heart-shaped which give it a nostalgic Polly Pocket feel with a luxurious twist.

Of the lipsticks, there are two in the brand’s famous K.I.S.S.I.N.G formula. Naughty Talk and Kiss Talk both feature a hydrating, satin shine finish. The former is a gorgeous, universally flattering nude shade. It’s similar to my beloved MAC Velvet Teddy and could quite possibly be a contender for my new favourite lipstick.
Charlotte Tilbury added: “The texture has a sheerness to it, which stretches to blend beautifully with the natural lip colour of every skin tone. It’s the perfect nude for deeper skin tones and also looks flattering on fairer skin tones.”
Meanwhile, Kiss Talk delivered a fresh, light pink pop to my lips. It’s not a shade I’d have typically picked for myself, but I loved the healthy glow it seemed to give my skin, and I actually think it made my teeth look whiter. The wax formula means these lipsticks glide onto the lips super smoothly and stay put all day, never bleeding outside the lip line. It contains antioxidant-rich lipstick tree extract to soften and hydrate the look and feel of lips, while the light-diffusing love filter effect pigments made my lips look fuller for the perfect pout.
I’m not normally a fan of matte lipsticks as I find them quite drying, but I do make an exception for Charlotte Tilbury, who has seemed to nail the balance between a flawless finish and comfortable wear. From this collection, Dream Talk and Love Talk come in a matte finish, the latter of which is the most dreamy strawberry red shade. It’s not as bold as what I would consider ‘festive’ reds, making it way more versatile and lends itself nicely to spring beauty trends. It’s neither too warm nor too cool either, making it universally flattering.
Dream Talk, however, which is a deep mauve, was a little too overpowering for me, but would look beautiful on someone else. Both of these made my lips feel so moisturised thanks to the hydrating cashmere cream texture, and the high-colour pay off is practically unmatched.
To compliment the lipsticks, there is also the new blush/finishing powder duos – flawless pink and flawless peach – which cost £43 each. Inside, there’s an airbrush powder that smooths, blurs and sets to give you flawless, poreless-looking skin – but unlike the original AIRbrush Flawless Finish formula, it’s also packed with colour-correcting pigment technology to conceal the appearance of under-eye dark circles and redness for a soft, even-looking finish. I love how the powder mattified my skin without it looking flat, and it helped set my base in place without caking or creasing.
As for the blush, the Pillow Talk Peach Blur was my favourite of the two with a warm peach hue that complimented my skin tone best. The soft, cooler tone of the pink blush wasn’t quite as flattering on me, but I did actually prefer the pink finishing powder, which means if I’m on the go I’ll need both palettes – but at least they have a handy mirror which is ideal for touch ups while out and about.
The palettes have received nothing but praise from shoppers, with one commenting: “Absolutely stunning packaging, lovely product leaves my face with a lovely glow and smells lovely, really easy to blend and highly recommend to everyone.”
Another added: “Gorgeous product from Charlotte Tilbury! The peach blusher suits my skin tone so nicely, and it goes on so well. It lasted the entire day and didn’t get powdery or flakey. Really lovely face palette!”
Though some said that it’s almost too pretty to use, commenting: “I love this product. It’s so beautiful, and I feel bad using it. The colours are very nice and fit my pale skin. The packaging is amazing. It makes me feel like I’m a princess. And it comes with a mirror to touch up just in case your make-up gets ruined! Very comfortable and convenient.”
Some people may find that the £43 palette is a little pricey, and if that’s the case, Sculpted by Aimee’s Bare Basics – Spring Summer Palette, £34, could be a good alternative – although this also includes bronze, highlighter and eye shadow in one.
