One woman and her husband claimed to have witnessed the legendary beast on a weekend hunt, as they watched the creature “rolling” and “spinning” around on the surface of the Scottish lake.

Taking part in one of the largest Loch Ness Monster hunts in over half a century one fan recounted an extraordinary encounter with the beast. Translator and Chie Kelly, 51, spoke of an eel-like creature she saw while taking a picture of her husband Scott. She said she saw it slowly spinning on Loch Ness’s surface before it vanished underwater.

Chie said she first saw it 100m away moving at a “steady speed” from right to left ending about 200m from the shore. She added: “We had lunch in the Dores Inn and then started walking around. I was just taking pictures with my Cannon camera of Scott and our daughter Alisa, who was then five, when about 200 metres from the shore, moving right to left at a steady speed was this creature. It was spinning and rolling at times. We never saw a head or neck.

“After a couple of minutes it just disappeared and we never saw it again,” added the Japanese-born translator. Initially, she wondered if it could be an otter, a pair of otters, or a seal, but they never saw a head and it never resurfaced for air. “It was making this strange movement on the surface. We did not hear any sound. There were these strange shapes below the surface. I could not make out any colours – the water was dark.”

“I could not accurately assess its length, but the two parts that were visible were less then two metres long together. I don’t know what it was but it was definitely a creature – an animal. At the time I did not want to face public ridicule by making the photographs public.”

Loch Ness Monster expert Steve Feltham said after meeting Chie he was sure her story was true. He said “I have met the Kellys twice and they are absolutely genuine.” Civil servant Alastair Gray, 58, also reported a sighting of the Loch Ness Monster on the 2023 expedition, claiming to have seen a pointed head and a pair of bumps emerging above the lake’s surface.

This sighting occurred just nine days after father-of-four Steve Valentine captured photos of what he believed to be Nessie, while on a boat trip with his children. “I spotted this black shape, about 200 metres away, near Urquhart Castle,” Steve recounted. “I felt compelled to take a photo, which I did. But one of the kids jumped on my lap and the boat turned around.” He showed the photo to the driver who was quite surprised. “I am quite open-minded, I was genuinely shocked.”
