Hysterics as Cat Owner Discovers Harsh Reality of Remote Work—’Killing Me’

The internet was left in hysterics after a woman learned the hard way what it’s like to take work calls with two mischievous cats in the same room.

TikTok user Cayley shared a hilarious video (@blackcatgoddess) of the moment she tried to pay attention during a call with one of her clients, only for her cats to take center stage.

Despite having a blurred background, the two felines could be seen leaping around on the bed, chasing each other, and even showing off their “karate air chop” during the call. Cayley tried her best to ignore the chaos that was unfolding behind her, but she joked on TikTok that it was “so hard not to laugh.”

Since the clip was shared online, it has amassed over 267,600 views and more than 46,200 likes on TikTok.

Internet users can’t get enough of the video showing “the reality of working from home,” and many even asked to see more of their antics. Cayley was certainly happy to oblige as she shared more TikTok videos showing what the felines get up to when she’s trying to concentrate on her work.

They don’t seem to mind the camera too much, and Cayley wrote on TikTok that they “love the spotlight.”

Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, only around 7 percent of U.S. employees worked remotely. In 2020, that increased dramatically to 55 percent, as countries around the world implemented lockdowns and heavy social restrictions.

While the number of remote workers has fallen since the pandemic, it’s still the preferred choice for many. The Pew Research Center highlighted that 35 percent of people still worked from home all the time in 2023, while 41 percent opted for a hybrid schedule.

When asked why they prefer working from home, 71 percent of respondents said it helps them balance their work and personal life, and 56 percent said it helps them get work done and meet deadlines.

Although there are times when remote working can prove to be more of a hindrance. Data shows that 36 percent believe it hurts their chances of being mentored at work, and 63 percent said it affects how connected they feel with their co-workers.

Since the clip of the cats went viral, internet users have lauded the mischievous duo, leading to more than 260 comments on the post so far.

One comment reads: “The blur doing absolutely nothing here is killing me.”

Another person wrote: “my black and orange cat fight like they’re on WWE too.”

“The way you looked back at them slowly and [unfazed] killed me,” added one TikTok user.

While another commenter joked: “It’s like they know the cameras are on.”
