The tragic death is being treated as ‘unexplained’
Detectives are trying to identify a man who died in hospital after being found in a Liverpool city centre street.
North West Ambulance Service found a man in his 20s on Old Hall Street, close to the city’s passport office, at around 4.35am on Saturday morning (May 10).
The man was taken to hospital, where he tragically died a short time later.
Merseyside Police says extensive enquiries have been made to identify the man, while his death is being treated as ‘unexplained’.
A cordon was put in place near to the passport office on Saturday morning as officers launched an investigation.
Police have since released two CCTV images showing a man they wish to speak to.
The person pictured is believed to have been in the company of the man who died earlier on Saturday morning, and officers hope he could identify him.
Detective Chief Inspector Chris Saidi, of Merseyside Police, said: “Our work to identify the man who died continues, and I’d urge the man pictured to come forward.
“I want to make clear that we are treating him as a potential witness, as we believe that he was in company with the man in the area of Old Hall Street earlier in the morning. He may well be able to help us identify the man.
“Likewise, if you recognise this witness or were passing or live nearby and have any information, please let us know.
“We are also working to establish the cause of the man’s death, but at this stage we do not believe there were any suspicious circumstances.”
