The British and Irish Lions take on the Waratahs this weekend in the fourth fixture of their summer schedule.

They have already played three games, starting with a 28-24 loss to Argentina in Dublin. Since arriving in Australia, the Lions have beaten Super Rugby teams Queensland Reds and Western Force by a combined scoreline of 106-19.

However, those victories have come at a cost, with two players forced to end their tours prematurely. Elliot Daly and Tomos Williams are out of action due to a broken arm and a hamstring injury, respectively.

Owen Farrell is now in his father Andy’s squad as a replacement, and the Saracens player is expected to get some playing time before the three-Test series against Australia. However, he will not feature this weekend, despite Farrell Snr making 14 changes to the starting XV that faced the Reds.

Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming match against the Waratahs.

When does the Waratahs vs Lions kick-off?

Waratahs vs Lions will kick off at 11am UK time at Sydney’s Allianz Stadium on Saturday, July 5.

What have the coaches said?

Waratahs’ Dan McKellar: “It’s a big game. Everyone wants to play in it. Like every week, the boys all want to be involved. There have been some tough decisions, as always, but we are comfortable with the 23 that we have got.”

Andy Farrell: “I know there’s the sad news about Elliot and the news about Owen coming is the big one, but the squad that’s been picked (to play the Waratahs) is an exciting one. At the top of that is Tadhg (Beirne) as captain. He’s honoured and delighted. It took him aback when I told him, and that’s exactly the type of reaction you want.”
