How do we really want to tackle crime? That’s important in this election too

It does not come as a surprise that these two leaders reflect fundamentally different philosophies. On one side, there’s respect for our highest court and a focus on compassion. On the other, a hardline stance on crime, with an emphasis on safety. It’s a tough balance — one I still struggle to make sense of. Wouldn’t Canada be better off with a bit more compassion? Or is forgiveness a luxury when Canadians feel increasingly unsafe? Empathy and harm are tightly wound together, and that can cloud our clarity during this election.
