It’s easy to get swept up in the excitement of staying in a hotel – especially one as iconic as the Plaza Hotel.
Friends Amira Harvey and Jenna Sinatra were enjoying a luxurious night at New York’s infamous hotspot – which is especially popular due to it featuring in Home Alone 2 – when they made a very expensive mistake while ordering room service.
Inspired by one of the famous scenes from the holiday classic where Kevin (Macaulay Culkin) orders the extravagant ice cream sundae, Amira and Jenna did the same – only to find out it cost a whopping $500.
‘Amira was so excited for the 16 flavor ice cream from the Home Alone movie,’ Jenna said in the now-viral clip posted TikTok.
In the video, room service arrived at their door with the massive ice cream dish, before a shocked Jenna signed the check.
‘She said it was $100, it’ll be fine when we split,’ she continued, speaking about her pal.
‘That’s what I thought,’ Amira interjected.
‘It’s $500,’ Jenna then revealed in shock.

To make matters worse, Amira hadn’t even seen the movie.
In a comment, Jenna wrote the dessert was ‘good,’ but ‘no ice cream is worth $500,’ with Amira saying it wasn’t even the best ice cream she’d ever had.
The pricey menu item consists of 16 scoops of assorted ice-cream, whipped cream, maraschino cherries, M&Ms, brownie bits, chocolate, caramel, and raspberry sauce.
The women added that they also only received two flavors – chocolate and vanilla – which they were disappointed about.
Commenters were amused – and horrified – by the expensive mistake.
‘So you’re telling me that you payed $31.25 for just one scoop??? That’s insane,’ one viewer wrote.
‘Omg, it was only chocolate and vanilla!!?? That’s robbery… I thought it was 16 flavors!’ said another in dismay.
‘You know how much ice cream I can buy for $500?! That’s like $10 right there,’ snarked another.
