Tributes have flooded in for a little girl who died after being caught up in a crash while she walked through Manchester city centre.

Police confirmed a three-year-old girl died in hospital from her injuries following a collision on Mosley Street this morning (February 22).

It followed a crash between a Metrolink tram and a white Mercedes-Benz van. The Manchester Evening News understands the van hit the girl as it rebounded from the collision.

Officers remain in attendance on the street, near St Peter’s Square, with a cordon in place. Images seen by the M.E.N. show the van had mounted the pavement.

Dozens of tributes have already been paid to the girl at the centre of the heartbreaking tragedy on the M.E.N.’s Facebook page.
