A Mohali court on Monday fixed July 21 as the next date for hearing the clean chit given by police in a high-profile corruption case allegedly involving former Punjab health minister Dr Vijay Singla.
Last month, the police submitted its closure report by giving the clean chit to Singla in the corruption case registered in 2022.
The case was originally registered at Phase 8 Police Station, Mohali, and revolved around allegations of demanding 1 per cent commission in return for the allotment of government tenders. However, in its closure report, the police have stated that no concrete evidence was found to proceed with legal action against the accused.
Notably, Rajinder Singh, the complainant in the case, has also recorded his statement before the court and has given his consent to the closure report. At the time of filing the complaint, Singh was working on deputation as a government engineer with the Punjab Health Systems Corporation.
