Amid rising concern over frauds related to “digital-arrests”, Surat BJP councillor Purnima Davle managed to report one such caller. The caller identified himself as a customs officer from Delhi, and threatened to arrest her over a parcel allegedly containing 15 passports and several fake documents in her name. Davle, who is the councillor from ward no. 28 in Pandesara area, contacted police and handed an application to them with a phone number. Speaking with The Indian Express, she said, “The caller verified my Aadhaar Id with me. He told me that about 15 passports and other documents were seized and arrest procedures will be done.
