Spring has finally sprung, and with the sun gracing the UK skies once again, people are eager to soak up as much outdoor time as possible before the darker days return. While basking in the daylight with a hot cuppa or a glass of wine is generally enjoyable during this season, there’s a common gripe that often crops up as the day wears on: “It’s getting a bit chilly, shall we head inside?”.

However, there are products designed to keep you cosy as the temperature drops. While patio heaters can often be quite expensive, customers have been lauding a reasonably priced product from Gtech.

The HeatWave Patio Heater is currently available at a discounted price, reduced from £149.99 to just £39.99. It boasts an impressive average rating of 4.6 stars out of 5 from nearly 500 reviews to date. For money-saving tips, sign up to our Money newsletter here

According to Gtech, the device can heat up to six metres “in seconds”, making it suitable for most standard patio seating areas. The heater utilises infrared technology, which is said to mimic the warmth of the sun, while also emitting a glow to enhance the ambience as the sun sets, reports the Mirror.

The heater is designed for wall mounting or affixing to a solid structure, and it boasts a compact design that doesn’t require bulky gas bottles unlike some conventional patio heaters. Gtech assures potential buyers of its cost efficiency, claiming the device has “low” electricity usage.

They note: “They use a lower wattage than traditional patio heaters, and are much more efficient as less heat is lost. Silently and discreetly, they convert almost 100% of the electricity they use into usable heat.”

For those seeking robust heating solutions, Dunelm offers the Amber Outdoor Pedestal Heater with Remote Control. Though the £399 price tag may seem steep, it can warm an area of up to 25m2.

Matching the Gtech’s price bracket, Amazon carries the Harrier Standing Outdoor Patio Heater, which features a stand. At £39.99, it reigns as the online behemoth’s top seller in the category of patio heaters.

One customer who purchased Gtech’s product shared their satisfaction, stating: “Instant heat, stylish, lightweight and compact. Bought to heat my patio area on cooler nights, and it did not disappoint. Also got it at a discounted price, so I have absolutely no complaints whatsoever.”

Another added their positive experience: “Thought I would try it before fitting it to it designated place. Wow it didn’t disappoint and it looks good and gives off a really good heat.”

A third reviewer raved: “Really happy with this garden heater. So easy to use and install. Wasn’t expecting it to produce the amount of heat for the size of the product. The heat is instant and you can feel it from quite a few feet away. The price was reduced to £39. 99 with free p+p so got myself a bargain.”

However, amidst the glowing reviews, a couple of issues were raised. One customer noted: “Patio heater gives off a decent amount of heat, the only problem, which is quite a big problem, is the length of the power cord, giving limited mounting options.”

Another buyer mentioned they encountered some difficulties with the fixing bracket.
