Group of Women Stopped From Being Sent to Saudi Arabia for Forced Labour

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) announced on Sunday that it had thwarted a human trafficking attempt at Karachi airport by preventing four women from boarding a flight to Saudi Arabia under the guise of performing Umrah.

According to an FIA statement, the immigration team carried out a major operation at the airport, offloading the women identified as Shazia Bano, Zameera Azeem, Lubna, and Sana Shahzadi.

The agency revealed that the women were being sent to Saudi Arabia for “forced labor” by a former policewoman from Punjab, identified as Asia, who had allegedly financed their travel. Another suspect, Waseem Gujjar, was said to be responsible for facilitating them upon arrival in Saudi Arabia. The FIA also noted that the four women had previously traveled abroad.

In a separate operation, immigration authorities detained two passengers, Ilyas and Rayan, upon their arrival at Jinnah International Airport. The FIA stated that both individuals were traveling on “emergency passports” and their citizenship status appeared suspicious.

The detainees were handed over to the FIA’s Anti-Human Trafficking Circle for further investigation.
