The Shehbaz Sharif administration has opted to keep petroleum prices unchanged for the next fortnight while offsetting fluctuations in global oil rates by announcing a significant reduction in electricity tariffs.
The Government of Pakistan has announced that petroleum prices will remain unchanged for the upcoming fortnight, starting March 16, 2025.
According to a notification from the Finance Division, the prices of key petroleum products, including High-Speed Diesel (HSD), Motor Spirit (MS-Petrol 92 RON), Superior Kerosene Oil (SKO), and Light Diesel Oil (LDO), will stay at their current levels.
The price breakdown is as follows:
- High-Speed Diesel (HSD): Rs. 258.64 per liter
- Motor Spirit (MS-Petrol 92 RON): Rs. 255.63 per liter
- Superior Kerosene Oil (SKO): Rs. 168.12 per liter
Light Diesel Oil (LDO): Rs. 153.34 per liter
The government has raised the petroleum levy on petrol and diesel by Rs. 10 per litre, according to a notification issued today. The levy has been increased from Rs. 60 to Rs. 70 per litre for both fuels, effective immediately (March 16).
The Prime Minister’s Office stated on Saturday that the federal government will maintain petroleum product prices and pass on the full financial benefit to the public through adjustments in power tariffs.
