Good Morning Britain presenter Adil Ray was left red-faced after he was forced to issue a warning to his co-star
Good Morning Britain’s Adil Ray found himself having to jokingly caution co-presenter Melvin Odoom during Friday’s programme.
Throughout the latest edition on 1 August, Adil, 51, fronted the ITV programme alongside Kate Garraway, whilst Melvin, 45, delivered the showbiz segment.
When discussion turned to the Freaky Friday follow-up, Freakier Friday, featuring returning stars Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis, which held its London premiere on Thursday evening, Melvin disclosed a fascinating detail.
The broadcaster remarked: “Hey Adil, you know Lindsay, right? Are you best mates?” which left a flustered Adil replying: “You know when I say things off-air, you’re not supposed to repeat them! I had dinner with Lindsay, me and Lindsay had dinner together. She’s lovely!”
This caused an astonished Kate, 58, to jump in with: “Stop, how did this happen, where were you?” with Adil insisting: “It wasn’t a date, before you know, it wasn’t a date!”, reports the Mirror.
“We had mutual friends and we all went out for dinner, she came along, we sat next to each other and we had a lovely evening. She’s absolutely adorable, she’s a fantastic human, really smart, really intelligent and really well lived. Just great, great.”
This follows the celebrities turning out in force on Thursday night at the London premiere of Freakier Friday. More than two decades following the enormously successful original film, Jamie and Lindsay were reunited and prepared for another body-swap adventure.
The follow-up to 2003 Disney favourite Freaky Friday arrives in cinemas on Friday, August 8. This time around it’s gone bigger and more bonkers – as it features a four-way body swap.
Lindsay, reprising her role as Anna Coleman, exchanges bodies with her daughter, whilst Jamie, who once more takes on the character of Tess Coleman, finds herself switching with her future step-granddaughter.
Additional returning cast includes Chad Michael Murray as Jake, who served as Anna’s on-and-off love interest in the original picture, and Mark Hamon as Ryan, who portrayed Anna’s stepfather and Tess’ spouse in the initial film.
Meanwhile, Jamie has recently revealed the reasoning behind the 23-year gap before Freakier Friday.
Speaking on BBC’s The One Show, Jamie explained to presenters Alex Jones and Clara Amfo the “truth” surrounding the choice to postpone the picture.
The Hollywood actress said: “The truth is Lindsay had to be old enough to have a 15-year-old daughter.
“People would ask me about the movie over and over again around the world and I would say ‘yeah we’d love to do it, we love each other and we’d have a great time, Lindsay has to be old enough to be a teenager or the movie doesn’t work’.
“And then finally, I think it was in Australia, someone said ‘she is’ and I was like ‘what do you mean?’ because I’ve know her since she was 15.
“She’s a young girl. Now she’s a young mommy, she’s this young girl. I don’t know how old she is but someone told me and I was like ‘oh, we can make a movie. Let’s go’.”
Good Morning Britain continues on weekdays at 6am on ITV and ITV X.
