Viewers were hoping that Lorde would come out on stage with Charli
As Charli XCX stormed the stage for her first Glastonbury Festival headline set, many fans had the same thing to say.
The 32-year-old British singer and songwriter first posted her songs to Myspace in 2008 before entering the London rave scene.
After releasing a series of singles and mixtapes in the early 2010s, in 2012 her single with Swedish duo Icona Pop I Love It saw her bag a first number-one in the UK.
Since then, her career skyrocketed with her 2014 single, Fancy, with Iggy Azaelea becoming a worldwide best-seller.
Her 2024 album Brat earned Charli numerous accolades, including eight Grammy Award nominations at the 67th annual ceremony.
This included Album of the Year, and three wins – Best Dance Pop Recording for “Von Dutch”, Best Dance/Electronic Album, and Best Recording Package.
She’s currently engaged to The 1975’s drummer George Daniel who also headlined Glastonbury on Friday night.
As the star took to the stage, fans were hopeful that singer Lorde would make an appearance for their collab Girl, So Confusing.
Lorde arrived on Woodies Stage at 11.30am to perform a surprise set in front of a packed crowd, meaning fans were disappointed that she didn’t show up for a set with Charli.
Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), @ctphonehomee wrote: “So lorde not being here is atrocious ??” as @V4MPIRESHAWTY asked: “WHERE IS LORDE”.
Another fan @begforloves exclaimed: “Now why would Lorde not be there” as @mattyscruff added: “not the crowd screaming bc they assumed lorde was coming out”
@allyallonsy01 also agreed: “I was hoping lorde was gonna come out”.
