Girl, 5, killed by family dogs in Covina

A 5-year-old girl was killed by her family’s dogs in Covina on Sunday.

The girl, whose name has not been released, was killed by a 10-year-old Rottweiler and a 6-year-old Rottweiler mix that had lived with her for her entire life, officials told KTLA’s Rachel Menitoff.

Patch reports the incident occurred in the 2500 block of Palomino Drive.

Two other dogs were also present but were not believed to be involved, though all four dogs were removed from the home.

The girl’s father was in the backyard with the girl when he realized the dogs were attacking her. He told investigators he jumped on her to protect her, but the wounds to her head and torso proved fatal at a local hospital.

No foul play is believed to be involved.
