Black Sabbath’s Terence ‘Geezer’ Butler has said he is ‘so glad’ he was able to perform one last time with Ozzy Osbourne in their hometown of Aston.

The bassist paid a touching tribute to Ozzy, describing the Prince of Darkness as his ‘dear friend’.

Ozzy reunited with Geezer, as well as drummer Bill Ward and guitarist Tony Iommi, for a final performance together at Villa Park earlier this month.

Their Back to the Beginning gig on July 5 was just a stone’s throw from where the band formed in 1968.

In a social media post, Geezer said: “Goodbye dear friend – thanks for all those years – we had some great fun.

“4 kids from Aston- who’d have thought, eh?

“So glad we got to do it one last time, back in Aston. Love you.”

Black Sabbath co-founder Tony also paid tribute to Ozzy, posting a picture with the late star on social media.

His post read: “I just can’t believe it! My dear dear friend Ozzy has passed away only weeks after our show at Villa Park.

“It’s just such heart-breaking news that I can’t really find the words, there won’t ever be another like him.

“Geezer (Butler), Bill (Ward) and myself have lost our brother.

“My thoughts go out to Sharon and all the Osbourne family.

“Rest in peace Oz. Tony.”
