From drug peddlers, auto unions to police records, Mumbai Police hunt for 1 man takes it places | Mumbai News

Nearly 36 hours have passed since Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was stabbed in his apartment in the upscale Bandra locality, yet the Mumbai police have not yet been able to identify the assailant.

This is despite the fact that CCTV footage of the accused is available to the police.

An officer said they have shared the photo of the accused with almost every one of the over-40,000-strong force along with retired officers.

“We suspect the accused does not have a crime record in the city as none of the cops has identified him. Or it may be that he has a record in some other state,” the officer added.

He further said that they have also shared the photograph of the accused with several taxi and auto unions but so far there has been no breakthrough.

The officer said that those involved in cases of robbery have also often been found to be involved in drug consumption.

“We also called in several persons who have drug cases registered against them and questioned them including those who looked similar to the accused. That too, however, has not yielded anything,” the officer further said.

“It appears that he is hiding somewhere in plain sight but we are not able to track him. However, our officers are working overtime and should be able to nab him soon,” he added.
