Five persons were arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 12-year-old school girl in Mumbai, police said Wednesday.
According to police, the girl, who lives with her uncle’s family in went missing on February 24 after school.
On February 26, her uncle, a driver by profession, filed a case of kidnapping against an unknown accused. The next morning, Government Railway Police personnel spotted the girl at Dadar railway station.
“We learned that a case of kidnapping was registered and handed her over to the police station concerned,” said a Dadar GRP officer.
According to police, the girl told them that she was sexually assaulted by five people, based on which the accused were arrested.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of POCSO Act and Bhartiya Nyaay Sanhita for “gangrape” of the minor girl. Further investigation is on, police said.
