The Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend, PFD is an ongoing stimulus check which started back in 1976.

For nearly 50 years, the PFD has been offering checks to qualifying residents including those who have maintained residency for a specific period.

The stimulus checks come from a program that manages Alaska’s oil revenues.

This year, the 2024 Permanent Fund Dividend amount is $1,702.

Residents can apply between January 1 and March 31.

To grab the cash, make sure you apply on the state’s website.

ARE YOU ELIGIBLE?

To be eligible for the PFD checks, you must meet specific requirements.

Firstly, you must be a resident of Alaska during the full calendar 2024 year.

Additionally, you must not have claimed residency in another state or country or received benefits tied to the claim since December 31, 2023.

You may not have been convicted of a felony in the past year or incarcerated due to a felony or misdemeanor.

WHEN WILL I SEE MY CHECK?

ALASKA PDF VS STIMULUS

The PDF payment is a bit different than the stimulus check Americans received during the pandemic.

PDF is made to residents of a specific region from the earnings of a permanent or sovereign wealth fund.

Alaska has a sovereign wealth fund called the Alaska Permanent Fund, established in 1976.

It is funded mainly through the revenue produced from Alaska’s oil and gas reserves.

Every year, part of the funds are distributed to Alaskan residents as dividends.

Lastly, applications that are in “Eligible-Not Paid” status on May 7, 2025, will be distributed on May 15, 2025.

Just note that residents will likely see their payments at different times as how you receive your payment is a factor.

Those with direct deposit normally see theirs first as it only takes a few days to hit accounts.

While those receiving paper checks could take weeks to arrive.

MORE MONEY

The PFD isn’t the only check Americans can claim.

You may be able to score checks from a $7.5m ‘false advertising’ settlement – and there are five ways to get cash.

A new ‘incentive’ plan may also give Americans $10,000 in tax payments from a proposed bill.
