Several people have been injured in what authorities are calling a “targeted terror attack” involving Molotov cocktails in Boulder, Colorado.
The shocking incident unfolded on Sunday afternoon at the busy Pearl Street Mall, a popular pedestrian area in the heart of the city.
FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed the nature of the attack just after 5.20pm local time, stating:
“We are aware of and fully investigating a targeted terror attack in Boulder, Colorado. Our agents and local law enforcement are on the scene already, and we will share updates as more information becomes available.”
Eyewitnesses told CBS Colorado that a suspect hurled Molotov cocktails at participants of a peaceful event being held in support of Israeli hostages still being held in Gaza.
According to Boulder Police, several blocks of Pearl Street Mall have been evacuated.

The suspect is believed to have targeted the procession on 13th Street and Pearl Street, with authorities confirming there were “several victims” as a result of the attack.
Video posted on X minutes after the attack show chaotic scenes.
Residents have been urged to avoid the area between Walnut and Pine Streets as the investigation continues.
Colorado Governor Jared Polis issued a statement saying he is “closely monitoring” the situation.
“Hate-filled acts of any kind are unacceptable,” he said.
The targeted event, named Run For Their Lives , began at 1pm local time at Pearl Street and 8th Street.
Organisers said the purpose was not to protest, but to show “solidarity with the hostages and their families, and a plea for their release.”
A statement from Run For Their Lives read:
“This is not a protest; it is a peaceful walk to show solidarity with the hostages and their families, and a plea for their release.”
Images from the scene show emergency crews treating victims and transporting at least one person on a stretcher.
