A 39-year-old suburban man was killed after a motorcycle he was riding in Geneva, Illinois on Sunday veered into oncoming traffic and struck an embankment, authorities said.
The fatal crash came a day after another motorcyclist, 27, was killed near Gurnee after he lost control and struck an SUV.
The crash was discovered about 6:37 a.m. by passing motorists, a release said, with Geneva Police, the Kane County Sheriff’s Office and the Geneva and Batavia fire departments responding to the scene on Geneva’s far west side.
According to a preliminary investigation, a motorcyclist traveling west on Fabyan Parkway between Wenmoth and Kaneville roads veered across the eastbound lanes of traffic and then struck an embankment.
The driver, a 39-year-old man from Sycamore, was pronounced dead on the scene, police said. His identity is being withheld pending notification to his family, police added.
Fabyan Parkway was closed to traffic as Geneva Police, the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team and the Kane County Coroner’s Office investigated.
