Residents in three northern NSW communities should prepare for significant flooding over the coming hours.
The Bureau of Meteorology this morning issued a major flood warning for the Clarence River at Grafton, Ulmarra and Maclean, with more rain is forecast for today.
At Grafton, the Clarence River is currently at 4.23 metres and rising, with moderate flooding, and the bureau warns it could reach the major flood level of 5.4 metres later in the morning.
The river at Ulmarra is at 2.2 metres with minor flooding, but it could rise to 4.2 metres with moderate flooding later this morning.
At Maclean, the river could reach moderate flood levels of 2.2 metres by tonight.
Moderate to major flooding is also forecast for for the Tweed River at Murwillumbah, Tumbulgum and Chinderah. Possible major flooding is forecast for Tumbulgum later today.
