Samsung has announced the integration of Google Gemini AI into its home companion robot, Ballie, as part of an expanded partnership with Google Cloud. Ballie is designed to assist users with household management tasks, such as adjusting lighting, greeting visitors, and setting reminders, through natural conversational interactions. The robot leverages Gemini’s multimodal reasoning capabilities alongside Samsung’s proprietary language models to process audio, visual, and environmental data, enabling real-time behavioral adaptations. This collaboration builds on the successful integration of Gemini AI into Samsung’s Galaxy smartphones, marking a strategic effort to embed generative AI across a broader range of devices.
Ballie is set to launch in the United States and South Korea during the summer of 2025. The robot’s features include health and wellness support, offering tailored advice based on user inputs, such as exercise routines or sleep optimization strategies. Additionally, Ballie can provide styling recommendations by analyzing visual data captured through its camera. Samsung aims to position Ballie as a proactive smart home assistant, differentiating it from static voice aides by incorporating mobility and multimodal capabilities.
