Engineering consultancy Kennedy Redford expands into Ireland

Kennedy Redford has expanded into Ireland with the launch of a new hub in Dublin. The move comes as the firm celebrates six years of growth, averaging more than 50% improvement in revenues per year.

Founded in 2019, Kennedy Redford is a multi-disciplinary consultancy offering design and engineering solutions for the built environment, energy, and infrastructure sectors throughout the UK and Ireland. The company specialises in delivering sustainable, innovative solutions through services such as structural and civil engineering, building services, and sustainability strategies. Notable work includes a 3,300-bed student residential development for the University of Manchester, four green hydrogen processing sites, and multiple infrastructure and advanced manufacturing projects at Rolls-Royce.

Since its launch, the firm says it has achieved year-on-year growth in the UK, with annual turnover increasing by an average of 54%. With its new office in Dublin, Kennedy Redford aims to replicate this success in Ireland, with an aspirational growth target to mirror the company’s UK expansion, where it has grown to over 30 employees.

Dan Bradley, managing director of Kennedy Redford UK, commented, “I am proud that we can expand our business to support the construction industry in Ireland alongside our UK client base. Bringing Michael into the Kennedy Redford business continues the trend of building on historic relationships between the senior management team, who have a mutual understanding of the business’s approach to ensuring a high level of service for all of our clients through technically excellent and open design consultancy. Michael brings a wealth of national and international experience to the table, that has ideally positioned him to lead Kennedy Redford in Ireland.”

The move comes in response to the continued success of the UK team and the appointment of Michael Hurst, an accomplished chartered engineer with over 18 years of experience across the UK, GCC, and Ireland. Hurst, who will lead Kennedy Redford’s operations in Ireland, has an extensive background delivering large-scale projects in sectors such as industrial, education, high-end hospitality, mixed-use, multi-storey developments, and residential. His previous role at Cundall and senior position at KEO International Consultants further enhances the company’s capability to support Ireland’s growing construction sector.

Michael Hurst, managing director of Kennedy Redford Ireland added, “I’m thrilled to return home to Ireland and reunite with former colleagues as we establish Kennedy Redford here. This expansion reflects the strength of the Irish market, and with a strong team in place, we look forward to collaborating with clients and partners on both sides of the water to create new opportunities and drive long-term success.”
