The actor can currently be seen on the big screen in his new movie
EastEnders fans are calling on Danny Dyer to return to the show as his character Mick Carter, who they ‘don’t believe is dead’ over two years on from his exit.
Appearing in the BBC soap from 2013 until 2022, the Football Factory and Human Traffic actor instantly became a fan favourite during his Albert Square stint.
Sadly, Danny decided to leave EastEnders, with his exit storyline on Christmas Day in 2022 being watched by over 3 million people across the UK.
After reuniting with his ex-wife Linda Carter, who helped him see that he was being manipulated by his current wife Janine Butcher, Mick and Linda pursued her in a tense car chase to Dover.
With Linda ending up in Janine’s car, the pair drove off a cliff and plunged into the sea. Despite being scared of water, Mick dived off the cliff to rescue them.
Bringing Linda to safety, Mick was encouragred to go back for Janine, who was pregnant with his child. Sadly, Janine lied and told him Linda was back in the water, with Mick entering the sea for a third time, not to be seen since.
The past two years has had Linda and the rest of Mick’s loved-ones presuming his death, with Janine was currently serving a prison sentence of up to five years in prison, where she gave birth to Mick’s child, for placing Linda behind the wheel of a car she crashed.
Over on the EastEnders Reddit page, a post asking if ‘anyone misses Mick’ saw EastEnders fans demaning that Danny returns to the show in the future.
@Different-Volume9895 said: “Mick and Linda were my power couple at one point! I do miss him, not going to lie about it.” @Time-Palpitation-945 added: “Yes. I liked it when he and Linda joined and had a good relationship but that doesn’t make for dramatic storylines. I wish he’d come back and get back together with Linda.
@lam20ma wrote: “Yessss!! I feel like mick will come back in a few years time with no recollection of what happened to him with a whole new life.” @eveninpr posted: “I’m waiting patiently for the day he walks into the Vic with amnesia or something!!”
@SmellsLikePetrichors commented: “I don’t buy him being dead anyway. Give it 5 years and he’ll be alive again for the 45th Anniversary and it’ll be more exciting to see him back.” @random-opinions445 stated: “I LOVE MICK!!! he just brightens up the screen and he does east-end the best!! I miss his comedy and his relationship with Linda!!! BRING HIM BACK!!!”
Meanwhile, during the press tour of his latest film Marching Powder, Danny called EastEnders a ‘hard job to leave’ as he shined a light on the perks of having a stable job.
“We never quite know when the next pay cheque is coming or when your next job. “You could have a really good run, and then it just stops for seven months, and you go, ‘Oh, maybe it’s over for me’. So, it takes that away .
“You’re not available. You’re getting paid every week, you know, in a high-profile show,” he told HeyUGuys.com
