In today’s world, while everything revolves around social media, veteran actor Dimple Kapadia feels otherwise. Revealing how she uses the medium without feeling a constant undue pressure as an actor, the 67-year-old prefers to scroll but not manage her accounts. Dimple mentioned that she finds it unnecessary to participate in the social media rat race like the rest of the people do.

“But of course I scroll through Instagram,” she revealed in a conversation with Vogue India, acknowledging that she enjoys observing but never felt the need to post herself. Ask if she would ever consider adapting to social media like her peers Zeenat Aman and Jackie Shroff have, and she questioned, “What for? Give me one good reason,” adding, “But do I want to say anything about myself?” highlighting her unwillingness to put herself out there for people to judge. “Oh, I don’t know if I’ll ever be ready. It took me years to put up my art in my own house,” Kapadia answered.

Her colleagues may have embraced Instagram, but she finds solace in a completely different world, mobile gaming. “I love playing games on my phone,” she told, naming Empires & Puzzles: Dragon Dawn. “I’m quite happy,” revealing that she enjoys nothing more than being in her own Juhu apartment. “My love is my home.”

The actor, who made her Bollywood debut with the film Bobby (1973) at the age of 16, doesn’t let herself get trapped between the intricacies of fame and celebrityhood. “You can show me whatever you want to in the world. Nothing changes my mind. It’s lovely that people have accepted and loved me for who I am, and I’m so thankful to them but I do not consider myself a star or an icon.” She also mentioned that the life of a celebrity is not at all a piece of cake. “It’s like taking an exam every second of the day. You’re judged 24/7,” Kapadia further added.
