A 38-year-old man allegedly killed his aunt after she refused to give him Rs 10,000 and hid the body under a bed in her house in the Golf Green area of Kolkata, police said on Thursday. Police arrested the victim’s nephew, Sabbir Ali, within hours after the body was discovered.
“A 40-year-old woman residing in RP Colony, Kolkata, was found murdered in her apartment. The victim, who worked at a café in a mall, was last seen by her mother at 9.30 am,” said an official, adding that the victim had sustained multiple stab wounds.
According to the police, Ali confessed to the crime and said that he had asked the victim for a loan of Rupees 10,000, which she refused. An argument ensued between them during which the victim allegedly punched him. In retaliation, Ali disarmed her of a kitchen knife that she had grabbed for self-defense, and stabbed her multiple times. He then strangled her to death, they said.
“He came to the victim to borrow Rs 10,000 for the repayment of his loan,” said an official.
