Delhi Live News Updates: The national capital woke up to ‘very poor’ air quality again today. Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) at 8 am was recorded at 311 which is a slight improvement from Saturday’s AQI 351. The most polluted place was Shadipur with 366 AQI followed by Mundka with 360 AQI. Out of 39 air quality monitoring stations, 24 reported ‘very poor’ air quality, and 15 ‘poor’ AQI.
Ex-Delhi CM Kejriwal attacked: Chaos broke out during Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal’s padyatra in South Delhi’s Malviya Nagar on Saturday evening after a man flung liquid at him. The AAP and the BJP engaged in a war of words with the former claiming the man was a BJP member. The party also alleged it was an attempt to “burn” the former Delhi CM since the man had thrown “spirit”, while the police claimed the accused had thrown “water”. The BJP hit back and said anybody can join BJP online.
More on pollution situation: The Supreme Court has directed that curbs under Stage 4 of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) to deal with the worsening air quality will remain in force until further orders. The court has also asked states in the NCR area to take an immediate call on stopping all physical classes in schools. The court, which is also hearing matters related to stubble-burning in NCR states, one of the contributing factors to the air pollution in Delhi, asked the government to get the data on farm fires from stationary satellites instead of polar orbiting ones as is being done currently.
