Deadly shooting outside Amazon facility in upstate NY under investigation

A man who was shot outside the Amazon facility in the Town of Gates, New York, on July 24 has died from his injuries, according to Gates police.

What happened

The shooting occurred in the parking lot of the Amazon warehouse at 2600 Manitou Road. Gates Police Capt. Matthew Pascarella described it as a targeted and isolated incident involving two individuals.

Witnesses reported seeing the pair engaged in a verbal argument shortly before shots were fired, Pascarella said.

Victim identified only as man in his 20s

Emergency responders found a man in his 20s suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name has not been released, pending family notification.

Shooter fled the scene

The suspect fled before officers arrived. As of now, no arrests have been made and no charges have been filed in connection with the homicide.

False active shooter report

Initial reports indicated there might be an active shooter inside the facility, prompting a large and immediate law enforcement response. However, those reports were quickly determined to be false, Pascarella said.

Investigation ongoing

Gates police continue to investigate the fatal shooting. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact authorities.
