The 87-year-old Olympic swimming legend broke four ribs and her hip in a fall at her house in Noosa last Wednesday.
She was admitted to intensive care, with her family at the time telling 9News they thought they were going to lose her.
Fraser has now been discharged from intensive care and remains in hospital recovering.
Today, her daughter spoke about the moment she received the dreaded call that her mum had been seriously injured.
“I woke Jackson and I said we have to go to the hospital now, I don’t think Grandma’s going to survive,” Dawn-Lorraine told 9News.
Dawn-Lorraine said her mum had tripped on the lip of the driveway, a day after undergoing eye surgery.
“My mother’s a fighter,” she said.
“She’s a tough mother, she’s always been a tough mother.”
It is not yet known when Fraser will be discharged from hospital.
9News was told she’s looking forward to returning home to begin her rehabilitation.
