CRIME SCENE: Nobleton residents on alert after coyotes bites boy, 12

York Regional Police urged residents about 50 kilometres north of Toronto in Nobleton to be on the lookout after a coyote bit a child on Sunday.

Police say they were called to the area of Hwy. 27 and King Rd. shortly after noon where the boy had been bitten.

Cops say the child was taken to hospital with minor leg injuries, adding there have been frequent sightings of coyotes in the area.

Toronto Wildlife and Vaughan Animal Services have been notified.

TWO SUSPECTS SOUGHT

Durham Regional Police are looking for two male suspects after a Saturday afternoon assault in Pickering left a man seriously injured.

Police said officers responded around 4:50 p.m. to a residence in the area of Chapman and Cornwall Drs. after it was reported a physical altercation took place between the suspects and one of the people at the home.

When officers arrived, they located three people inside the house, one suffering from serious injuries. The suspects had fled.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

TRIO ARRESTED

Three people face charges after being arrested in Whitby while in a vehicle which had allegedly been stolen last Wednesday morning.

Cops say around 8:20 a.m., they responded to the area of Stellar Dr. and Thickson Rd. for reports of a stolen vehicle.

Officers located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. The suspect vehicle allegedly fled and was located a short distance away, police said.

Taylor Robert, 37, of Keene, is charged with multiple offences, including flight from police, dangerous operation,  possession of property obtained by crime – exceeding $5000 and two counts of breach of probation.

Meaghan Perritt, 36, of Harcourt, is charged with possession of property obtained by crime – exceeding $5000, possession of property obtained by crime – under $5000 and theft under $5000.

William Reardon, 42, of Port Hope, is charged with breach of probation, possession of property obtained by crime – exceeding $5000, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime – under $5000, and theft under $5000.

PEDESTRIAN DIES

A 99-year-old woman has died after being struck by a car on June 24 in the Victoria Park-Sunrise Aves. area.

Police responded to a call for a collision that day after it was reported a 40-year-old male was operating a black Mercedes Benz northbound on Victoria Park Avenue around 1 p.m. when a a female pedestrian was crossing Sunrise Ave.

The Merccedes made a left turn, allegedly hitting the pedestrian who was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The Mercedes driver remained at the scene.

MAN INJURED

Durham Regional Police say a 49-year-old male suffered serious injuries after a single motor vehicle collision in Whitby on Saturday around 2:20 a.m.

Cops were called to a crash at Brock St. and Clear Spring Rd. after a Chrysler 300 sedan struck a traffic signal pole, crashed through a wooden fence, and came to a stop against a tree.

The driver, who now listed in stable condition, was rushed to a  hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The vehicle also struck multiple vehicles in the parking lot of the Bull Pub and Grill in Whitby, prior to the collision.

Police alleged alcohol is believed to be a factor in the collision, which is still under investigation.
