According to reports, moon sighting has been confirmed across various parts of the country, marking the beginning of the month of Shawwal — the 10th month in the Islamic lunar calendar– and the conclusion of the sacred month of Ramadan, after 30 days of fasting.

Notably, Eid 2025 is being celebrated today in Saudi Arabia and the rest of the Middle East, including the United Arab Emirates (UAE), after the desert kingdom confirmed that the crescent moon had been sighted in the country on late Saturday evening, marking the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan.

As is the norm, Eid-ul-Fitr is usually celebrated in India, and its neighbouring countries, such as Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan, a day after the festival is marked in Saudi Arabia and the rest of the gulf nations.
Akin to the other major occasions in the Islamic world, the exact date of Eid-ul-Fitr each year is determined by the sighting of the crescent moon, and as such, the festival falls on different dates in different parts of the world. Eid-ul-Fitr is usually celebrated in Saudi Arabia, a day ahead of India because of geographical positioning of the two countries.
