Crackdown Launched Against Illegal Parking Fee Collectors in Karachi

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has launched a major crackdown on individuals and groups involved in illegally collecting parking fees at various locations across the city.

The operation was initiated following directives from Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab, who recently announced that 32 designated parking spots across Karachi would now offer free parking to the public.

Acting on public complaints, the City Warden Department conducted surprise inspections at several areas, including near Chase Up, Aladdin Park, and a location in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. During these checks, individuals illegally charging parking fees were caught and handed over to local police for further legal action.

Mayor Wahab reaffirmed that ensuring free and hassle-free parking is one of the city administration’s top priorities. He directed the parking department to ramp up enforcement and made it clear that anyone found misusing public spaces for personal profit would face strict action.

“We are here to serve the people of Karachi. We won’t let anyone exploit public areas for personal gain,” he stated.

The KMC has encouraged citizens to report any such illegal parking fee collections via its helpline, promising that swift action will continue to ensure fairness and transparency in the city’s parking system.
