Coronation Street star Farrel Hegarty has made a three-word statement about her and her co-star as they were seen enjoying time together away from the cobbles.
The actress joined the ITV soap earlier this year as Lou Michaelis alongside Joe Layton as husband Mick, after the pair were unveiled as part of a new family, described as “nightmare neighbours”.
Mick and Lou moved into Mawdsley Street at the back of Chesney and Gemma Winter-Brown’s house, which is the first time ever Corrie has extended the serial drama across the ginnel.
And there has been drama indeed, with things only set to get worse. During Wednesday’s (May 14) Corrie, Gary and his wife Maria were horrified to learn that Mick had locked Liam in the tool shed at the builders’ yard, which made him miss his GCSE English exam, and they were both rightly furious.
Trying to avoid violence following a warning, Gary decided to give him a taste of his own medicine by locking him in the same tool shed, before letting him out and firing him.
Mick made it clear Gary would regret his decision and later, things turned violent when the newcomer cornered Gary and punched him. As they scuffled, Gary grabbed an empty bottle and was ready to use it is a weapon, but DC Kit Green intervened and stopped them, letting Mick go..
“What? Is this a wind-up? You’re just gonna let him walk away?” a fuming Gary asked, but Kit told him: “All I saw was me prevent you from making a massive mistake.” But as Corrie fans know, Mick has a hold over Kit and that later became more evident when a bloodied Gary was taken to the station by Kit,
And it’s previously been announced that Corrie will explore the complex history of Kit Green, revealing the secrets and events that shaped him into the man he is today, which included unravelling how his is linked to Mick and Lou.
In a special flashback episode airing on Friday (May 16) viewers will be transported back to 2007 to witness the teenage years of Kit (Jacob Roberts), Mick (Joe Layton), and Lou and uncover the truth behind their intertwined past.
Secrets will be revealed, and long-buried traumas will resurface, shedding light on Kit’s motivations and the reason behind his complicated relationships.
The episode will feature three actors taking on the younger roles of Kit (Brook Debio), Mick (Lewis Walton), and Lou (Charlotte Alex-Riley), providing a transition between their past and present lives.
But away from their troublesome alter-egos, Farrel has joked that she and Joe are nothing like their characters. In a social media post, the pair were seen out enjoying drinks with their co-stars close to the Corrie set at MediaCity.
They smiled for the camera as night set on Salford Quays and sharing the snap on her Instagram Story, the actress and TikTok star simply said: “We’re nice really.”
Meanwhile, it was previously revealed that both Mick and Lou will soon depart Weatherfield. A Corrie spokesperson confirmed that the exits of both characters from the long-running show, with both expected to leave before the summer.
They said in a statement to The Sun: “Mick and Lou were brought into the show to cause chaos on the cobbles in the build up to a major storyline in the summer and they are already making their presence felt.
“Joe and Farrel were contracted for a specific length of time, some characters come in for a long time and some like Mick and Lou are brought to pass through and leave a trail of destruction behind them. Both actors are still filming with the show and will be on screen until the summer.”
