Coronation Street Colson Smith has revealed ‘what’s next’ for him in a major career update after his character Craig Tinker’s death.

Fans of the ITV soap were left devastated last week by the passing of the popular policeman, who joined the programme as a youngster in 2011.

After confirming his exit back in January, Colson’s Craig died after a brutal attack at the hands of Mick Michaelis on Wednesday night (May 21).

The son of Beth Tinker, who was played by Lisa George, was struck with a baseball bat after he pulled Mick over for driving under the influence, later dying in hospital.

With Colson joining Corrie when he was just 12-years-old, he is now preparing for life away from the cobbles for the first time as an adult.

Fans of the 26-year-old have been speculating what he’ll do now that Craig’s time on the show has come to a tragic end.

Taking to Instagram over the weekend, Colson revealed that he will be entering the world of radio with BBC Radio Leeds in the coming weeks.

Colson shared a photo of him standing outside of the station’s studio, wearing a big smile on his face as he pointed at the BBC sign.

He captioned his post: “Thank you so much for all the love this week! I really appreciate it! Some of you have been asking, what next for me?

“There’s a few exciting things going off!! BUT one thing I can tell you for now, is that I’m joining the team at BBC Radio Leeds this summer!!!

“Catch ya on the wireless in Yorkshire!!”

Fans and friends of the actor took to the comments section of his post in their droves to congratulate and wish him well ahead of his new venture.
