The Nihao! China • Let’s Meet 2025 cultural exchange event has introduced an innovative way for residents of Chongqing and London to connect during the Chinese New Year. Through interactive Time-Space Magic Mirror installations, people in both cities could engage in real-time conversations, share greetings, and experience cultural exchange despite geographical distance. The cultural exchange event, which ran from February 6 to February 10, facilitated interaction at designated locations — Chongqing’s Changjiahui City Viewing Platform and London’s King’s Cross Station — during set hours each day.
This initiative highlights the growing recognition of the Chinese Spring Festival on a global scale, especially following its inclusion in UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list. By utilizing technology to bridge cultures, the event fosters a deeper appreciation of Chinese traditions among the British public while offering Chinese expatriates in the UK a unique way to reconnect with their heritage.
