The state government will prepare a comprehensive space policy within three months, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Thursday. He was speaking at a conclave, Space Tech For Good Governance, at Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini in Thane.
The space technology has become an inevitable aspect of public life. It has given boost to industrial units and also holds important role in good governance, he said.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has realised the significant role of space technology. And accordingly come out with a policy. It is PM’s wish to see India’s contribution globally in space technology development at 8 to 10 per cent. Through this, India holds business potential worth 44 billion dollars,” the CM said.
In 2014, he said, “India had just one space technology start-up. Today, in this sector we have 189 start-ups. These attract investments worth 124 million dollars.”
The use of space technology has helped in diverse fields agriculture, weather, water conservation, health, education, defence etc, he said.
