Coldplay frontman shocks fans after falling through trap door at sold-out gig

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has shocked fans when he fell through the stage during the band’s final Melbourne concert last night.

The sold-out crowd gasped as Martin tripped while reading signs from the audience and walking backward at Marvel Stadium.

It comes just weeks after pop superstar Olivia Rodrigo fell through a trap door on stage during her show in Melbourne.

Martin was caught by a production hand underneath the stage, he quickly reassured the crowd he was okay.

He didn’t seem to be hurt, getting to his feet, telling the crowd “that’s not planned”.

“Thank you for catching me,” he added, addressing a member of his team below the stage.

Martin continued on with the show.

The Fix You singer isn’t the first to fall while performing on stage, with Olivia Rodrigo taking a stumble during her Guts World Tour show at Rod Laver Arena.

She didn’t miss a beat during the ordeal but admitted she was ”shaken up and it “was really scary” after the performance.

Coldplay is set to play at Accor Stadium in Sydney on Wednesday.
