A cleaning expert has revealed the little-known detail on dryers that could be hindering your laundry routine.
Lint Away Duct Cleaning regularly posts ‘oddly satisfying’ videos on TikTok of him cleaning out dryer vents.
In a recent clip, he shared the moment he cleared a shocking wad of lint out of a dryer’s trap – much to the astonishment of viewers.
He wrote in the caption that it had ‘NEVER been cleaned.’
‘So, you’re telling me you never clean this?’ he asked the woman as he pointed the camera into the dryer at what looked like a vent.
‘I didn’t know this was a thing,’ she responded.
The content creator then reached into the dryer and pulled off the cover of the lint trap vent.
The cover was full to the brim with filth-covered lint as the TikTok creator zoomed in on the inside.

‘That’s linty,’ he said, before asking the woman: ‘How long was it taking your clothes to dry?’
She responded that it took about three hours as he replied: ‘That’s insane.’
He then reached into the vent and pulled a long, thick chunk of lint from around the edge of the trap.
‘Oh my goodness,’ he said as he tried to grab it all with one hand.
Thousands of people ran to the comment section and some were also shocked by the sheer amount of lint.
‘Her lint is SOLID. That’s insane. She’s lucky it didn’t start a fire,’ someone wrote.
Others didn’t realize a lint trap could be inside a dryer.
‘I have literally never seen a lint trap in the back like that,’ a person said.

‘Who else went to make sure they didn’t have a lint trap on the back even though they knew they had the front trap,’ a user admitted.
‘Never seen a lint trap in the back of the dryer. They are usually much more accessible,’ a person added.
‘Not me running to my basement to check my dryer for a second lint trap because mine also takes two to three hours to dry clothes!’ someone shared.
The U.S. Fire Administration reported that failure to clean dryers was the leading factor contributing fires in homes from 2018 to 2020.
